Wild Game Wednesday: GGW and Grand River Connection Event Recap

On Tuesday, July 24 from 6:00-8:00pm, Grand River Connection and Gourmet Gone Wild joined forces to create a night of networking and socializing on the rooftop at Peckham, Inc. in Lansing. Promptly at 6:00pm the weather was sunny and beautiful, and guests were arriving. As they socialized they were presented with dishes such as Great Lakes fish chowder, Mediterranean venison stuffed grape leaves and coconut encrusted walleye with a sweet piña colada sauce prepared by Chef Dixie Dave. At the last table they were greeted by a complimentary cocktail bar provided by Ugly Dog Distillery. The liquor choices were rum, gin, vodka and their signature bacon vodka with accompanying mixers.

After the event was underway and guests had a chance to become acquainted to one another, Michigan United Conservation Clubs delivered a welcome message about what Gourmet Gone Wild is and the goals of the program. With Michigan hunter numbers dropping steadily and significantly throughout the last 30 years, it aims to introduce this generation to the meaning of conservationism and spark an interest in becoming involved in the outdoors. It was a beautiful night to make new connections, enjoy unique food and drinks and spend an evening outside.

This is a busy week for the Gourmet Gone Wild program, as we continue to hit the ground running with our next event this Friday at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center in Detroit, Michigan. Guests will be enjoying archery lessons for the first hour, and then sampling fresh, new recipes and an Ugly Dog bloody mary bar. We hope to see you there!
